NICOLE TEH
Founder of Pine Atelier
Nicole Teh is an artist and architectural designer whose practice moves fluidly between art and architecture. A DesignSingapore Scholar, she graduated with a BSc (First Class Honours) and MArch Architecture (Distinction) from The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.
Her practice bridges art and architecture, encompassing architecture, interior design, and art installations. She is deeply interested in exploring the dialogue between the two disciplines, investigating how artistic expression can be seamlessly integrated into architecture to enrich spatial narratives, evoke emotional resonance, and weave culture and heritage into the fabric of placemaking.
Apart from the knowledge and skills gained through formal education, her years of experience working at design and architecture firms in Singapore and London (The Oval Partnership, ipli Architects, Tate+ Co Architects, Mobile Studio Architects) helped develop her design workflow with maturity, sensitivity and careful consideration in feasibility of design.
As a miniaturist, she is drawn to the intimacy of the tiny sculptures and the great stretch of imagination it can bring. She is fascinated by all things small, and often delves into the technical challenges of crafting these compact worlds. She creates imagined spaces through the play of form, material, light and darkness, orchestrating series of miniature events that culminate through the lens of the camera.
Her works have been showcased in various exhibitions, both in UK and Singapore, at venue such as National Design Centre (Singapore), Alliance Française de Singapour (Singapore), Telok Kurau Studio Gallery (Singapore), Royal Academy of Arts (London), USM Furniture Gallery (London), Objectifs (Singapore), The Everyday Museum by SAM (Singapore), The Bartlett (London).
